Graceful Elegance

Every word in the English language evokes a mental image for each one of us.   The mental image that comes to mind for me when I hear or read the words, graceful elegance together, is one of a dainty fairy dancing on water lily pads or a raven haired beauty softly playing the delicate strings of a harp, while sitting under a willow tree beside a babbling brook.  Someone else hearing that might see a delicate ballet dancer on stage, gently turning on her tiptoes while her arms are effortlessly posed above her head.  And yet someone else might see an antique tea cup sitting on a lace doily.  Whatever you see, whether its practical or fanciful, it is probably very girly.
Now while words evoke certain images, colors evoke certain feelings and emotions.  You could have two button down shirts, same style, size and brand, just different colors.  One is black and one is white.  When wearing the black shirt, you’d feel completely different than when you’d wear the white shirt.  Why? Because color alters your mood, which brings me back to my original thought.

Woman and teenage girls have often asked me what they should wear on a first date, or for a romantic occasion, and while my answer often varies on the occasion or situation as well as my personal go to color combination is pink and grey.  If I can’t wear something grey, then I’ll wear white or cream instead.  The shade of pink should be a soft and romantic shade, not a loud or neon pink; Think of the delicate pink in a white water lily.  As for the shade of grey, it shouldn’t be a dark hard grey.  Once again think soft thoughts.  A light heather grey is my personal favorite.
So why this combo? Well pink is the soft side of red, which represents love and passion and is fiery and sometimes can send a sense of challenge. It represents tenderness and sends the signal of vulnerability, which are also an element to romance.  Because of this, it tends to make a man feel protective towards the woman, which is totally a subconscious psychological reaction.  They just can’t help it.  As for grey, it represents sophistication and a quiet hint towards status.  The darker the grey, it will pick of the more mysterious vibes that black give off and the lighter the grey, it will pick up the signals of spring and possibility.  Either way, this color is chic.  So, if we put this together, you send the message, that you have class, and style, and are soft and slightly vulnerable… You need a strong warrior to protect your honor.  See why this is my go to color combination when I’m feeling very girly or when I’m going on a special date.

Now ladies, when you’re going for a gracefully elegant look, and you’re aiming for the appearance of being a delicate lady, you don’t wear heavy or obvious makeup!  You’re makeup should be fresh and subtle.  That means if you do a dramatic eye, you should do a nude lip or just a little gloss for your lips.  If you do a romantic pout, then keep your eye makeup to a minimal.

I’m speaking from experience when I say this… A good man will see you, the core of you, no matter what you wear or how your makeup is.  He will sense if you have a good hear or if you’re out for a bit of fun.  So whatever you wear and however you do your makeup, just be genuine and remember to smile.  There’s nothing more beautiful than a woman who loves herself and enjoys life.

Blessed Be
